### PhonePe Launches E-Commerce App Built On Top Of ONDC
PhonePe, the major fintech company owned by Walmart, has announced the launch of its new e-commerce consumer app Pincode, which is built on the government’s Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform[^1^]. This move comes after PhonePe’s formal separation from its parent entity Flipkart earlier this year[^1^]. Pincode aims to provide hyperlocal shopping experiences to users, with an initial launch in Bangalore and plans to expand to more cities and categories in the future[^1^].
PhonePe boasts a user base of 450 million, with one out of four Indians already using their platform[^1^]. With 35 million merchants accepting payments through PhonePe, their large network is expected to drive growth for the ONDC platform and contribute to the expansion of India’s e-retail market[^1^].
