Is it an Ethical Dilemma or Simply another Technological Advancement?

**The Concerns Surrounding ChatGPT: Will AI Take Over?**

**AI Leaders Call for a Pause in AI Development**
In March of this year, an open letter was signed by influential AI leaders, including Stuart Russell, Elon Musk, Steve Wozniak, expressing their concern about the power of AI systems. They called for a pause in the training of AI systems more powerful than GPT-4.

**Geoffrey Hinton’s Opinions on AI Risk**
Geoffrey Hinton, an AI veteran who recently retired from Google, also voiced his concerns about the risks associated with AI. He stated that mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority.

**Student Opinions: Nervousness and Pragmatism**
As part of a study conducted within a DBA program, undergraduate students from Amsterdam and London were asked about their opinions on ChatGPT. Some students expressed nervousness about how people might use the technology, while others compared it to the internet, stating that it is just another tool for faster learning.

**Debate on the Ethical Use of ChatGPT**
Some students justified the use of ChatGPT as ethical, comparing it to Google and emphasizing the importance of proper referencing. Others believed that it provides more time for learning and inevitable use. However, concerns were raised about potential biases and the ability to present information without expressing opinions.

**Disapproval of ChatGPT’s Use**
Not all students had a positive view of ChatGPT. Some opposed its use in universities, considering it a form of cheating that provides an unfair advantage.

**ChatGPT’s Advantage in Information Processing**
Geoffrey Hinton explains in an online interview that ChatGPT has a significant advantage over humans in terms of basic common sense knowledge and information processing. With fewer storage capacities but more efficient information exchange capabilities, ChatGPT can acquire and process data thousands of times faster than humans.

**Information Processing vs. Knowledge**
While ChatGPT excels in processing information, the question remains whether it truly possesses knowledge or if it is limited to data processing. The human approach to problem-solving and the nuances of human thinking have not yet been fully understood or realized.

**ChatGPT’s Limitations**
While concerns exist about the rapid pace of AI development, it is important to note that ChatGPT, despite its immense pool of information, lacks the human skill of knowledge, at least for now.
