Our team had the privilege of spearheading the facilities management department starting in July 2022. Our primary task was to create a county-wide master plan aimed at identifying office spaces, recommending consolidations based on efficiency and service requirements, and conducting building condition assessments. The initial phase of this plan, which outlines the implications of new buildings and renovation projects, received unanimous approval from the County Commission in January 2023.

We are proud to share that our master plan also brought forth opportunities for career growth and upward mobility within the government. To ensure a more efficient system, we developed standardized trade classifications that accurately reflect the skills, experience, and responsibilities required for each position within the department. We have even created and advertised two new high-skilled trade positions to be filled in fiscal year 2023.

In addition to these advancements, we have implemented a system of mobility opportunities within the maintenance division, reclassifying existing position descriptions and outlining the specific skills and experience necessary for career advancement. Lower skilled positions now have the chance to further develop trade-specific skills and advance within our department. To support this initiative, we have collaborated with local trade schools to design a formal training program, enabling our team members to acquire the necessary knowledge and qualifications.

Looking ahead, our goals for the coming year include staff development, continued implementation of the county master plan, and positive budgetary decisions. We are determined to maximize our resources in order to serve our community better.
