**Title: Creating Key Performance Indicators for State Governments | A Comprehensive Approach to Targeted Violence Prevention**
**Description:** In this video, we discuss the importance of creating a library of key performance indicators (KPIs) for state governments to enhance their targeted violence prevention efforts. We delve into the varying levels of comprehensiveness in violence prevention strategies across states and the need for a standardized framework. Through extensive research and literature review, we explore the role of states as conveners and coordinators of violence prevention initiatives. We acknowledge the challenges faced in implementing a comprehensive framework but emphasize the importance of preventing individual acts of violence to create safer communities. Join us in supporting the long-term planability, accountability, and evaluation of this framework.

**Transcript Summary:**
To create a library of key performance indicators (KPIs) for state governments in targeted violence prevention, we need to establish a comprehensive framework. The extent to which states have addressed violence prevention varies significantly. States should play a crucial role as conveners and coordinators of various aspects of violence prevention. The challenges in implementing a comprehensive framework include political obstacles and limited resources. However, we believe that a comprehensive approach is necessary to prevent acts of violence and promote safer communities. Our goal is to develop a framework that ensures community readiness for international prevention programming by promoting long-term planability, accountability, and evaluation.
In this video, we focus on tertiary prevention, specifically community healing after incidents of violence. Although our model addresses individual-level prevention as well, we will provide examples of KPIs related to individuals’ reintegration into society after being impacted by targeted violence or criminal activities.
Tertiary prevention includes objectives such as developing secure incentives and programs for individuals entering and leaving prisons. To measure the effectiveness of these objectives, we need to assess the allocation and utilization of funds, as well as the incorporation of evidence-based approaches in programs.

During our stakeholder interviews, we discovered that a comprehensive framework for state governments’ violence prevention strategies was lacking. However, we were encouraged by the desire for collaboration and the recognition of the public health approach to violence prevention. While most states have focused on individual intervention, there is a growing understanding of the need for broader intervention in society.
We want to thank everyone for their valuable insights and contributions to this project. The interviews revealed that many states lack a targeted violence prevention strategy, leading us to assist in developing one. Additionally, we highlighted the significance of differentiating between primordial and primary prevention and the need for standardization.
Join us in supporting and implementing a comprehensive approach to targeted violence prevention. Your voice and engagement in this cause are vital.
