Stevens appeared with Slotkin and local elected officials at a ballroom in Pontiac on Friday to discuss her endorsement, the first by a member of the state’s congressional delegation in next year’s Senate race.
“The story that Elissa represents and the work that she has done and her friendship, it was a no-brainer. I had to stand by her,” Stevens said.
The two entered Congress following the 2018 election, flipping seats that previously had been held by Republicans.
Slotkin, a Democrat from Lansing, announced her Senate candidacy in February.
