Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen! We hope you enjoyed the excellent first session of the World Bioeconomy Forum. Now, we are excited to introduce Session 2, which focuses on corporate leaders and the financial world in the context of sustainable financing.

Leading this session is Teresa Pressus, an esteemed figure in the circular bioeconomy. Teresa has been a pioneer in the industry, formerly serving as the director general of SEPI, the confederation of European paper makers. Her expertise makes her an invaluable member of the Advisory Board and the main board of the World Bioeconomy Forum.

In this session, we aim to shed light on the crucial role of the corporate world, industry, business, and finance in driving the transition to a low-carbon society. The insights shared here will contribute to the development of effective strategies and policies in the bioeconomy.

Previous sessions have shown us that business and industry play a vital role in shaping bioeconomic strategies and policies. As mentioned earlier, the bioeconomy cannot be solely driven by governments, as businesses also hold the power to bring about change. In recent years, businesses have demonstrated their ability to adapt to sustainable business models based on renewable resources, showcasing the potential and benefits of the bioeconomy.

This session will delve into the importance of mobilizing funds to accelerate the development of the bioeconomy. Sustainable financing is key to realizing the potential of the bioeconomy and its positive impact on economic, social, and environmental transformation.

Joining us for this panel discussion are esteemed experts and practitioners in the field: Mark Wishnie, Virginia Puzzolo, Ben Vickers, and Jarmo Heinonen. Each brings unique perspectives and valuable insights on sustainable financing in the corporate world.
