amazing movie fr
Pearl has borderline personality disorder. Me and my daughter had to, and we see us in the sreem
Interesting thoughts on both Pearl and X.
X to me was like a throwback to the Drive-In days. How ever the script was much better than a 70s exploitation film.
Pearl didn't really get notably lukewarm reception. Horror movies rarely get above the 6-7 range for audience scores because horror movies are divisive.
dumb f movie. waste of time
6:25 I did NOT expect to hear Harvest Moon (more) Friends of Mineral Town winter theme here…….
Lukewarm response? It was met with critical acclaim and the film nerd set adores it.
I'm her, she is me
Mia Goth easily should have gotten an Oscar Nomination.. but you know.. Americans are close minded.
i hated the fact i related to pearl so much at first. obviously no, i promise im not a murderer. but i cried so hard at that rejection. all i want is acting from my life, i want to be on tv, i want to see myself everywhere, i want to be a star. i have faced so much rejection, despite being talented. mind you most of these rejects are from school theater. this isn’t narcissism, i know that honestly i am talented in acting. i want to leave my small town and be known. i need to be special. pearl hits me so hard.
I think another layer to the rotting food is Pearl's neglect of the abundance she has that would sustain her life in favor of her desire for more outside of farm and family. It's common for artists to ignore health, eating, others, everything in pursuit of a dream.
I don't understand how people enjoyed X more than Pearl. I definitely didn't!
If you empathize with Pearl you are either blissfully ignorant of the world or just like her, in which case despite what the folks wearing decorative Roman implements of torture on chains around their neck might say, there is no salvation for those like you.
I read the food metaphor slightly differently – the roast pig left outside to rot reads to me like an allegory for Pearl herself. Part of her monologue subtley reveals (as if we didn't already fully know) that she's had symptoms of being neurodiverse her whole life, but due to her circumstances and mother's own unresolved trauma she wasn't nurtured or helped in the way she needed, she gets worse and worse until her mental state is what it is by the end. The pig, similarly, was left outside by Ruth out of her own pride (and other issues) and so spoils and rots, only being brought inside by Pearl herself, too late to be saved.
I saw Pearl first as well and I loved it so much more than X. I enjoyed X but… didn't like Pearl in it… Pearl > X for me!
this whole movie was really fantastic and i felt for pearl so badly but oh my god the scene where she was leaving her home in that pretty red dress and she twirls for her dad, i CRIED
i dont even know why? i just watched her kill her fling and then i start crying for her
this movie is truly haunting and beautiful and its just such a breathtaking film
Bro what are u guys saying lol girl was crazy from the start
Pearl is my favourite film, a person with undiagnosed (supposedly) bpd (in which I’m very certain of)
I was so happy and excited to have found a film that portrays bpd in such a way that it’s not like so in your face “SHES GOT BPD SHES CRAZY” it’s from her point of view, people lying to her isn’t just lying it’s betrayal. which is so true and I’m just waffling now but omg my love for this film is so strong I can’t 😭😻
It's probably because I don't know what it is.
CALLING ALL HORROR FANS TO BOYCOTT THE OSCARS after those cuck dipshits didn't give Mia Best Actress for her spectacular performance in Pearl.
Idk why this vid sounds ai generated hdjdhs
i feel like pearl is a very feminine film, thats not saying men cant watch, enjoy and sympathise with it, but i dont think anyone will truly be engulfed by this film like a woman
so sweet after watching such a great and professional vid you say youd recently hit 25 subs awwwww happy for your success may it continue
There's not exactly a whole lot to not understand here….
Pearl will be a classic
This was one of the greatest films I’ve watched. So much so I bought it.
It might sound crazy. But i completely understand Pearl. I watched the movie yesterday for the first time and i was like "this is me".
I always related to Pearl ever since the first time I've watched this movie. Ever since I was a kid, I've always wanted to be a star but then my dream of stardom turned into an obsession because of my life. My whole life was nothing but bullying, insecurities, and constant doubt. My family constantly tells me to change and be tough, but the truth is that I'm not a tough person, I'm a sweetheart. My insecurities were caused by my dad because he kept making jokes about my weight. The bullying came from my sister. She bullied me because she doesn't accept me for who I am. I DEEPLY resent my family for these reasons because they don't understand me. I rather be in a place where people are less judgemental and understanding, that's why I'm so desperate for stardom because I want to escape a life that I didn't ask for.
I'M A FUCKING STAR. THE WHOLE WORLD IS GONNA KNOW MY NAME. I WILL NOT ACCEPT A LIFE I DO NOT DESERVE!!!! – MaXXXine Minx
i understand her way too well
I think the progression from pearl to X makes ALOT of sense. When you get older youre more quick to the point, direct, senile, and are more unapologetic of who you are. So Pearl becoming the more demented god fearing murderous nymphomaniacal pick-me femcel in X makes a lot of sense.
Yes. Sympathy towards a psychopath 😅😂
Great movie.
honestly some of a24s horror feels like older horror, the slowburn and the implications without stating whats happening out loud. I love the subtlety of all of it.
One of my favorite movies of all time, Mia goth performance is on another level and love the orchestral music throughout
What’s there to understand….. she’s a psycho!! 😂
I understand her more than I should
I didn't know this was part of a trilogy. Looking forward to whatever comes next as I highly enjoyed both X and Pearl. For whatever reason, I can't think of much that's come out from A24 that wasn't at least fascinating compared to most of what other new films I've seen within the past several years.
This seems more like an art film for film snobs who "appreciate the nuance" in these kinds of movies. The monologue you said she should've got nominated for I honestly found very boring and was spacing out during it and the ending was just lackluster
