Welcome to 504 Road Trips! Join us as we take you on a scenic drive along US Highway 80, located between Flowood and Pearl, Mississippi. As we journey west on US-80 into the city of Jackson, we’ll take you across a series of historic bridges built in 1938 that cross a rail line, old US-49, and the Pearl River. These bridges are a testament to the rich history of this old highway, once a primary coast-to-coast route.
As we travel through Jackson, you’ll get to see the vintage charm of the old roadside motels that line US-80, many of which are still operating today. These motels serve as a throwback to a time when US-80 was a bustling cross-country thoroughfare, offering travelers a place to rest. Our journey also covers a concurrency of US-80 and Mississippi Highway 18, providing scenic views and insights into the history of this iconic highway.
This nostalgic road trip is filled with captivating sights and historical landmarks, making it an experience you won’t want to miss. Join us as we explore US Highway 80 and the surrounding areas, and don’t forget to subscribe to 504 Road Trips for more exciting adventures!

US 80 seems to still get a good amount of traffic. I been on US 80 eastern end in Georgia before.
Besides other ones like Meridian and Gulfport.
That’s a cool motor home in the beginning of the video! I believe the only major city I’ve been to in Mississippi was through Hattiesburg. Nice drive!
kinda cool I live on scr 504 in smith county,ms and I live about 15 min from hwy 80
I have watched zillions of your ride videos. It's interesting that you were in my area here.
What lead to the downfall to Jackson was the crack cocaine epidemic of the late 80 and 90s. The leadership in Jackson didn't know what to do and people started moving out of Jackson to get away from the violence. Highway 80 was once a popular place. This is what you have left.
Jackson's streets are as notoriously bad as New Orleans.
I've never been on this stretch of road
Strap down in Jacktown. I had to learn how to drive an 18 wheeler on this section of highway 80.
