André Banschus and Verdion Anticipate Surge in Power Demands for Future Logistics Space

# Industrial Buildings Specialist Verdion’s New Logistics and Business Scheme

**Industrial buildings specialist Verdion** is set to revolutionize the logistics and business industry with its latest project, Javelin Park. This innovative development will be located on a 158-hectare former military base just west of Düsseldorf, Germany. With expansive plans to develop a staggering 580,000 sq m of space, Verdion is poised to make a significant impact on the market.

In an exclusive interview with Real Asset Insight’s Richard Betts at the Transport Logistics event in Munich, Verdion’s executive director, André Banschus, highlighted how Javelin Park sets itself apart from similar-sized projects such as the iPort in Doncaster, UK.

Banschus explained that while the iPort was once hailed as the most sustainable business and warehouse park, Javelin Park takes sustainability to the next level. Utilizing “totally different sustainable materials than we were ten years ago,” this cutting-edge project reflects the industry’s rapid progress and commitment to energy efficiency.

Emphasizing the significance of energy and energy production in today’s world, Banschus revealed that Javelin Park’s energy needs will be substantial. To meet this demand, the project will feature air-heat pumps to replace traditional gas-based heating systems, as well as embrace the rise of electric vehicles. Adjacent to Javelin Park, a wind farm is being developed to harness the abundance of renewable energy available. “We are teaming up and using this energy for our new park,” Banschus stated.

Furthermore, Javelin Park will house photovoltaic panels on its roof, enabling the generation of massive power. This surplus electricity will be utilized for heating and the charging of electric vehicles. Looking ahead to the future, Banschus predicts the emergence of electric trucks that will further contribute to power consumption.

Industrial buildings specialist Verdion is planning a new logistics and business scheme, Javelin Park, on a 158 hectare former military base west of Düsseldorf, where it will develop 580,000 sq m of space.

In an interview with Real Asset Insight’s Richard Betts at the Transport Logistics event in Munich, Verdion executive director André Banschus contrasted the project with the similar sized iPort, developed at Doncaster in the UK, where work started about 10 years ago.

He said that while iPort at the time was intended to be the most sustainable business and warehouse park, the new park is already more modern, using “totally different sustainable materials than we were ten years ago”.

Stating that “it’s all about energy and energy production” now, Banschus said that with air-heat pumps replacing gas-based heating and with the rise of electric vehicles, Javelin Park will need large quantities of electricity and a wind farm is being developed adjacent to the project. “We are teaming up and using this energy for our new park,” Banschus said.

The business park will also have photovoltaic panels on the roof, “so we will have massive power production,” he added.
